Our Story
Meant to Heal was born from a simple, radical truth:
you were never broken — you were always meant to heal.
The foundation of this practice is rooted in the understanding that healing is not about erasing the past or becoming someone new. It’s about remembering the strength, softness, and self that have always lived within you. It’s about returning — gently, slowly, bravely — to who you were meant to be before the world taught you to shrink, silence yourself, or survive without support.
Meant to Heal was established because we saw how many people carried their wounds alone. How many believed their pain made them unworthy. How many thought healing required perfection, productivity, or pretending.
But healing is none of those things.
Healing is human.
Healing is sacred.
Healing is your birthright.
At Meant to Heal, we honor the nervous system, the inner child, the protector parts, and the adult who is still learning how to feel safe in their own body. We blend evidence‑based care with compassion, curiosity, and deep respect for your lived experience. We move at the pace your body trusts. We celebrate every step — even the quiet ones.
Our story is rooted in the belief that healing is not a destination.
It’s a remembering.
A reclaiming.
A homecoming.
This is Meant to Heal.
A place where your story is honored, your voice is welcomed, and your healing is not just possible — it’s meant!
Meet the Founder
Tatyana Barroso, LMFT 156570
My path into this work began long before I became a therapist. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to the stories people carry — the quiet ones, the painful ones, the ones that shape how we move through the world. Over time, that curiosity grew into a calling: to help people understand their experiences, reclaim their voice, and feel safe in their own lives again.
I earned my Master’s in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles, where I focused on trauma, family systems, cultural diversity, and lifespan development. Before that, I completed my Bachelor’s in Counseling Psychology at Northwest University, building a foundation in human behavior, relationships, and the ways our early environments shape us.
My clinical experience spans a wide range of settings — from school‑based counseling to intensive outpatient programs to private practice. I’ve worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, identity challenges, bullying, parental separation, and the long‑term impact of adverse childhood experiences.
I’m trained in EMDR, Somatic Therapy, ERP, ACT, CBT, and trauma‑focused modalities, and I integrate these approaches based on each client’s needs. My work is grounded in nervous system awareness, emotional regulation, and helping clients rebuild internal and external support systems that last.
Before entering private practice, I worked in environments that shaped my understanding of resilience and human complexity — from supporting at‑risk youth in school settings, to guiding teens in fostered residential care, to working with individuals with autism and language impairments, to providing crisis support and psycho-education to families. These experiences taught me how to meet people where they are, communicate clearly under pressure, and hold space with steadiness and compassion.
What led me to create Meant to Heal was the belief that people are not broken — they are overwhelmed, hurting, or carrying burdens they were never meant to hold alone. Healing isn’t about perfection or erasing the past. It’s about reconnecting with the parts of yourself that were pushed aside in order to survive.
My approach is collaborative, direct, and deeply respectful of your pace. I value clear communication, detailed treatment planning, and creating a therapeutic relationship where you feel understood, supported, and empowered.
This work is meaningful to me because I’ve seen what happens when people finally feel safe enough to explore their story. I’ve seen what changes when someone realizes they are not alone. And I’ve seen how healing becomes possible when someone is met with compassion, skill, and consistency.
You were always meant to heal.
I’m here to help you get there.
